Baked Cheesy Oysters
About a year ago, I posted a recipe for Grilled Oysters with Compound Butter. To make this dish, you needed a grill and a little over an hour of time. I was craving these oysters recently but wanted to make a lazier version where I can just use my conventional oven in a shorter amount of time. Behold: Simple Baked Cheesy Oysters. They look and taste very similar to my fancier grilled oysters, except I was able to accomplish this within 20 minutes!
Next time, I'll need to make both versions and do a taste test with friends!
Baked Cheesy Oysters
Prep Time: 5 min
Cook Time: 15 min
Yields 4 pieces
Ingredients:
4 BBQ oysters
2 garlic cloves (grated)
2 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
1/8 tsp black pepper
5 tsp preferred cheese (shredded or grated)
I used about 1 tsp Parmesan cheese and 4 tsp Italian blend cheese
1/2 tsp fresh parsley (minced)
1/4 tsp bread crumbs
Pinch of salt flakes or sea salt
1 lemon wedge
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Set your oysters (cleaned and shucked) on a baking tray.
In a small bowl, mix together garlic, black pepper, cheese, and fresh parsley.
Evenly distribute melted butter over the oysters, then the mixed together ingredients. Sprinkle bread crumbs last.
Bake in the oven for 7 minutes.
Change oven setting to broil. Broil for about 5 minutes or until cheese is golden and crisp.
Transfer oysters to serving plate. Garnish with pinch of salt and serve with lemon wedge (for optional squeeze of lemon juice).
