Fried Nori Chips with Spicy Tuna
What do I love more than eating seaweed as a snack? Eating them FRIED with raw fish on top! There's nothing like getting multiple flavors and textures in one bite. Both of these complement nicely together, and can be easily whipped up as an appetizer at your next party or get together.
Fried Nori Chips with Spicy Tuna
Prep Time: 10 min
Cook Time: 15 min
Yields: 2 Servings
Ingredients:
6 sheets of Nori (seaweed)
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup cornstarch
~1/2 lb tuna (cubed)
2 tsp ponzu
1/8 tsp sesame oil
1/8 tsp fresh lemon juice
1/4 tsp Sriracha
Pinch of chili powder
Sea salt
Canola oil
Microgreens
Directions:
Holding 2 sheets at a time, cut Nori into triangles (~3" in length). There should be 2 stacked layers of Nori per triangle. (This helps make your triangles thicker and easier to fry)
Mix water and cornstarch into a bowl.
In a small to medium shallow pan, add your frying oil on medium heat (about 1/2" deep in pan). Once oil is hot, dip the 2 layered Nori triangles into the mixture, then carefully into the oil. Once the loud sizzling stops (less than 1 min), immediately remove from oil and lay on paper towels. Repeat until there is no more Nori. (Warning: Be careful of the hot oil that may splatter)
While fried Nori cools, toss tuna evenly with ponzu sauce, sesame oil, lemon juice, Sriracha, and chili powder. (Add more chili powder for spicier finish).
Take a spoonful of the spicy tuna and place on top of a Nori triangle. Repeat until there are none left.
Sprinkle over with sea salt, garnish with microgreens, and serve!
